The Book Indexing Readiness System (BIS) applies the same structured monitoring philosophy as JIS to scholarly books, monographs, edited volumes, and other eligible book publications — focused on book-specific identification, metadata, discoverability, and dissemination requirements rather than journal publication cycles.

What BIS Supports

• Maintain ISBN, title, edition, publisher, author, and editor information
• Structure book and chapter-level metadata
• Record DOI information where DOIs are assigned
• Review bibliographic metadata quality and discoverability
• Track submission or coverage information for appropriate catalogues, repositories, and discovery platforms
• Identify metadata or publishing-standard gaps affecting discoverability

BIS can support both DUF-associated projects and external publishers requiring structured book metadata and indexing-readiness assistance.

Independent Coverage Decisions

BIS does not itself index books or guarantee their inclusion in any external database, catalogue, library, or discovery service. All inclusion and coverage decisions remain with the respective third-party organizations.
