The Data-Driven Awards programme at Digital University Foundation recognizes research contributions using a transparent combination of quantitative evidence and expert assessment, designed to complement traditional award selection with verifiable indicators of scholarly reach, openness, and reuse.

Evidence Considered

Citation evidence from appropriate bibliographic sources, article or research-output usage statistics where independently available, dataset or software reuse, research downloads, open research outputs, and other field-appropriate indicators. No single metric automatically determines an award.

Data Sources

Evidence is obtained where possible from identifiable external sources such as bibliographic databases, DOI metadata, and repositories. DUF's internal systems, including JIS where relevant, may be used to organize and monitor this information but are not presented as an independent citation or indexing authority.

Responsible Use of Metrics

Indicators are interpreted in disciplinary and career context. Raw citation counts, journal-level metrics, or download figures are not treated as direct measures of research quality. Expert assessment remains an essential part of the selection process.
